2009 Sales List* - Liquidation Sale
* Prices Subject to Change

Our first child is on the way, and we are making some dramatic changes to our lives. Ritter Dressage is shutting down its breeding operation and lesson-horse program, and we are liquidating nearly our entire stock of horses. Most of these horses are offered at "Fire Sale" prices, and many of these prices are negotiable, so do not hesitate to make us an offer! Any and all offers will be considered. Terms considered on some of the horses, as well. Time is critical - we need to have our herd downsized dramatically before the baby arrives. This is a great opportunity to pick up some excellent riding horses, dressage prospects, and breeding stock at below market value prices.

Please feel free to email thomasritt@gmail.com or call (360) 631-1101 to talk about any horse that may interest you and/or to request a video and/or more photos. All of the horses are located in the Eugene, Oregon area and are available for viewing. Just call or email. If flying in from out-of-town, you can fly into Portland International Airport or Eugene Airport. Both airports offer rental cars, and there are many hotels in the area.

LIPIZZANS AND DRESSAGE HORSES FOR SALE:

  • Maestoso II Catrina Maestoso II Catrina: 1989 15h Lipizzan Breeding Stallion. Maestoso II Primavera x Catrina (Siglavy Superba x Canissa). Classical, baroque-type Lipizzan Stallion. Perfect for a start-up or small Lipizzan breeder who wishes to preserve the wide-body classical type of Lipizzan. "Tony" is an excellent sire. He consistently produces classical, baroque-type foals with outstanding movement and temperaments - and excellent evaluation scores, as well! Our highest scoring foal ever (88.9%) was a 2008 colt by "Tony". "Tony" has extensive exhibition experience in-hand (Levade is his specialty), at the long-rein, as well as under saddle. He was on the cover of the February 2009 issue of Dressage Today magazine performing a Levade in Hand. He has a kind, noble, and aristocratic personality. He is quite affectionate and fond of people, and he especially enjoys spending time with his people - especially those who dote after him and tell him how wonderful he is (he LOVES to hear that!). He especially loves a scratch above his tail and will hunt you down to get it! "Tony" deserves a good home, with someone who enjoys a charismatic stallion with loads of personality. If his new owner has some mares for him to breed, all the better! We would really like to see "Tony" go to a breeding home. Price is very negotiable for the right home.

  • Zephyr; January 2009 Conversano Sorria ("Zephyr"): NEW PHOTO! 2006 14.3h Confirmed Bay Lipizzan Stallion. Conversano Mima x Sorria. Robust, classical type with bold movement. Gorgeous and Bay! He has just turned three years old this year and we have lightly begun his training. He longes nicely, wears tack, and is proving to be a bright, intelligent young pupil with an excellent work ethic. Super-fast learner... show him something once and he "knows" it. Each day he begins right where he left off the time before. He has been DNA-tested and he will not Grey!
YouTube Video: Zephyr video November 2008
    PRICE: $15,000.00

  • Bella; May 2009 Bella Bloom: NEW VIDEO! 2005 Black Friesian-Thoroughbred Mare. Sire: Alex (Laes x Lukkie). Dam: Wild Salsa (Wild Too x Sonora Sun). Beautiful, sweet, elegant mare with outstanding Dressage potential. Very tractable, intelligent, and excellent temperament.

    PRICE: $12,000.00

  • Impala Impala: NEW CONFORMATION PHOTOS! 2002 15.2h Grey Lipizzan Mare. Tulipan Melodia x Imperea. VERY Spanish-looking - rides and looks much more like an Andalusian than a Lipizzan. Taller than the average Lipizzan and very fancy. Phenomenal movement and limitless talent. By nature, fairly hot and sensitive, but not explosive or dangerous. Wonderful for a rider who likes and appreciates a hotter, more sensitive riding partner. Likes a rider who can offer guidance and support so that she can relax. Currently in Professional Classical Dressage training and is beginning lateral work in the trot (already does beautiful leg-yields and is now begining to school the shoulder-in). Shows impressive talent for Medium and Extended trot with wonderful natural cadence and lift. Also is very talented for Piaffe and Passage, although we have not schooled these yet with her. Canter is naturally very uphill and active. Long/Thick mane and tail. Tall and very uphill build. Dapple-grey coloring - absolutely exquisite! 83.5% Evaluation Score. Sale can include breeding to either of our stallions for 2009.

    PRICE: $14,000.00

  • Farrah Farrah: NEW CONFORMATION PHOTOS! 2003 14.3h Palomino Lusitano/Arabian Mare. Saphiro x Strike Me Fanci. GORGEOUS! Wonderful choice for someone who wants to make an impact! WOW! She is only half Lusitano, but she looks full Lusitano. Farrah is fairly hot and sensitive, but not stupid. She has been ridden on the beach and trails and seems to enjoy the adventure! She is schooling 1st level dressage, and has some light longrein experience. She would make a really lovely long-rein exhibition horse with her petite size, baroque movement, and gorgeous good looks. Farrah's photos were featured in the February 2009 issue of Dressage Today in Dr. Thomas Ritter's article on balance. Farrah has so many talents, she could also make an exquisite Western Horse, and has the energy and intelligence to hold more than one career hat.

    PRICE: $10,000.00

  • Tribecca Tribecca: NEW PHOTOS! 1993 14.2h Grey Lipizzan Mare. Pluto II Balmora IV x Triesta. Has just begun her second career as a riding horse. She is currently in training. When bred to a tall, sporthorse-type stallion, she produces tall, sporthorse-type offspring. When bred to a baroque, classical type stallion, she produces baroque, classical-type offspring. She is the perfect mare for producing carbon copies of the stallion. She has no known reproductive issues. The only reason we didn't breed her this year and put her into training instead was to sell her. Perfect mare for someone who wants to ride and/or breed. Has just been bred to Maestoso II Shama II for a May 2010 Foal.

About Ritter Dressage: Ritter Dressage has been breeding Lipizzans and other breeds since 2000. We breed specifically for Dressage, targetting lines that produce outstanding movement and trainability. Because we believe temperament is paramount, not only for Amateurs, but also for Professionals looking for their next Dressage partner, we place a very high emphasis on breeding for kindness, generosity, high willingness to please, sensibility, trainability, and rideability. Basically, we bred for the qualities we wanted in our own future riding horses.

We have some excellent quality horses for sale, and they would make excellent foundation stock for a breeding program. In Eight years, we built up a very high-quality Lipizzan Breeding Program. Dr. Oulehla was extremely complimentary of the quality of the foals we have bred and they all received exceptional scores in their evaluations.

Our foals are handled regularly yet are also allowed to grow up out at pasture, so that their bodies can develop into their full potential. Even when we train for Dressage Competition, our training is strictly classical and we follow the Spanish Riding School and Reitinstitut Egon von Neindorff philosophies in our training. Most of the riding horses were started by us. We start our horses under saddle classically and carefully, and never before three years of age and most typically at 3-1/2 to 4 years of age. In some cases, some horses are started even later to allow them more time to mature. It depends on the Individual and we assess each situation individually.

Some of the horses offered have been used in our exhibitions. Many have been used in our Lesson Program and are, therefore, effective and discerning teachers for any student of Classical Dressage.

Our horses have been our family, and we think of each one as a family member. It is very hard to part with our family! Therefore. it is of paramount importance that they go to homes where they are well-loved, well-respected, and well-cared for. This consideration is placed above any other, and we will go out of our way to make it work for the right home. Terms and prices are negotiable on most of the horses (consignments excluded).
